Carlies’s Project

Carlie is such a beautiful young lady with such an amazing attitude having just gone through and conquering the battle with her illness, all she wants is to be a normal teenager enjoying her high school years. When we met with Carlie, she asked for a room which would be warm, with soft, natural and relaxing colors. We learned that she loves makeup and is also a talented singer. The challenge for her was that she didn’t like being in the room which reminded her of being sick. We were originally considering her room to be in the back of the house but when we started to do the furniture planning, it made more sense to stick with the front room which had been her room and was also so nice and sunny!

One thing we have noticed about Carlie is how very genuine and selfless she is, wanting to include her sisters in this process and not even wanting to go first for the reveals! She loves her family, friends and loves her life.

Carlie’s Room:

Bella’s Room:

Bella is Carlie’s sister, next oldest. She’s very different than Carlie, which you can sense pretty quickly when speaking with her. More of an old soul, she enjoys reading, writing and is also a talented musician who plays keyboard and Base guitar. She’s more simple and as she told us, was just a minimalist not really so interested in color other than black and white. One thing that she showed us was a black & white John Lennon poster which one of her professors had given her. The poster was something we were inspired by from the start as far as the direction for her room. I have to say we felt more challenged (perhaps a bit nervous) by Bella’s room than the others. What was important to Bella was having a good desk to do homework and to be able to have her books on a bookcase of some kind.

Julia & Eliza’s Room:
Julia & Eliza are the two youngest sisters who are close in age and share a room. When we spoke with them they told us about their cheerleading and what sports they liked, colors and animals. We were more inspired by the fact that they are still young girls but fun and energetic so we created a true “girls” room for them and had fun with the blue, pink & neutral colors which they could still grow with through high school.

“Over 10 years ago, an architect introduced us to the Room to Dream team. Lead by founder Stefan Nathanson, the RTD Foundation’s mission is to create healing environments in bedrooms for children and adolescents who are facing chronic illnesses. We are proud to have worked with RTD on 4 projects serving families and children in need in our greater Boston community.” ~ Nigel Costolloe, Catchlight Painting

Thank you to everyone who donated their time, labor and talents to help us make this such a success. Without our generous vendors, friends and volunteers we couldn’t have pulled it off. We had an amazing Dream Team!

Special Thanks

We would like to thank all of the volunteers as well as the donors below for being a part of this Dream Team!
